Ampichino & Young Bossi - Cop Heavy Gang (Album Review)
Posted: Tue May 07, 2013 8:58 pm
1. Dont Worry
The album starts off with a real mellow sounding beat with a sample that I have yet to figure out, Ampichino's verse is on point as he raps about how he lost his cousin in a car crash and how another cousin is doin 8 years..Bossi swoops right in and spits how he was 4 years old watching his uncle whip that work. Perfect way to start the album.
2. I Aint On It (Feat. Live, Bane Caso, V-12 & Klazzik)
The beat on this track is hella laidback..I love how if you listen hard enough, you'll hear a lil voice in the background humming along with the beat. No chorus on this song, but thats not a bad thing because Amp & Bossi kick the song off by trading bars with each other, then hand it over to the rest of the niggas on the track to finish it off, defintely a banger.
3. Squatting (Feat. Lil Rue, Berner & Boy Big)
Lil Rue spits first on this track, and it's slurred out as usual..but he still got a decent verse..then Berner handles the 2nd verse before Boy Big comes in with the hook, but the best part of this song is easily Ampichino's verse..
"Im tryna get my scratch like DJ Skee/ we the Cop Heavy Gang CHG
I'm nocturnal, I can't sleep at nite/ all my boys is goons, they can't read or write
jesus christ, he's just nice/ nothing less than 10 G's just to breathe on the mic
ya wife on my nuts, i let her eat on my pipe/ then I did the illest shit she ever seen in her life
i made her call her husband, tell him she aint comin home again/ then I dropped her ass off and I ain't seen baby since
I never gave a fuck, i dont give a shit / you been shot before, i'll hit you with a iller clip
Bossi comes in after Amps verse too wrap the song up, and it cuts back too Boy Big on the hook..this is one of my fav tracks
4. Katrina (Feat. V-12 & Bane Caso)
The song opens up with Bane Caso doing the chorus, and V-12 does the first verse. Bossi comes in on the 2nd verse and spits a dope verse, dropping lines like "I coulda been a QB/ instead i'm selling LB's. But, of course Ampichino comes in and killed it with his verse
I seen it, the world dying..or was i dreaming/ im fiending for knowledge..but whats the meaning
of it all if we all born to die/ murderous killers, was we all born to lie
outside its raining, dead on the inside/ i had never felt pain, until i watched my mother die
a part of me passed away the same day/ 2012, niggas catchin early graves
The chorus comes back in too wrap the song up and the beat rides on out...
5. Heart Of Da V
Amp & Bossi sound right at home over this Dame-Dash produced beat with the Monica sample, Amp lays out the first verse while Young bossi handles the chorus and the 2nd verse. Bossi came the hardest on this song too..
*sidenote - the sample on this song is Monica "Love All Over Me"
6. Dream (Feat. Smiggz)
Smiggz opens the track up with his smooth-ass vocals (no homo)..and Ampichino spits a solid verse right along with Young Bossi over another Dame-Dash beat, the sample is from some Mariah Carey song..I just cant remember the name of it..this is another one of my favorite tracks even though its only about 3 minutes long.
7. Sounds Like (Feat. Live)
This track samples Pat Benatar song "Love is A Battlefield" and Live does the chorus which sounds perfect with the sample on the song. Ampichino's verse is on point (as usual), but the best part of the song is where Amp & Boss go back and forth trading bars off of each other on the last verse..
money over bitches, but it's family first/ get out of line and the metal will squirt
holdin hands with the devil, put ya face on a shirt/ then we war at ya funeral and spray up ya church
and the "ooo-woo-ooo-woo-ooooooo WHO WE ARE" shit that the sample is saying in the background just blends in so nice with everything..
*check the video out
8. Fourtys (Feat. Rich The Factor & Boy Big)
This track opens up with these hard hitting ass horns in the background and Boy Big harmonizing along with it, Ampichino's verse is first and he spits a raw ass verse
You kinda cool for a black dude, thats what the plug said/ we gone give his black ass 350 months, thats what the judge said
*sidenote - if my math is correct, that shit tallies up to like 30 years..but i never passed math class so i bet im wrong
Boy Big comes in on the hook after Amp, and Rich kills the track with his verse
You know I'm dead serious on my journey/ call the MAST track, tell em bring a bunch of gurneys
561 on a busy street, im real on the city streets/ I'm hard on the track just like a Swizzy beat
Bossi comes in and knocks out the 3rd verse..and I honestly think he came the hardest (yes Kush, that means he outdid Rich nigga) :jack:
9. Eightys (Feat. Lox & Chino Nino)
Over a Pakslap produced beat, Lox handles the first verse and he opens the track up nice by threatening to smack you in the mouth if you disrespect the Mob (thanks for the warning Lox, i'll be sure not to do that)..Chino Nino does the chorus, and Amp & Bossi knock the rest of the song out. This is another one of my favorite songs on the album, the best part about the song is where the sample on the song goes "Let the rain fall down"..if anybody knows the sample for this song, lemme know :arnold3:
10. Hella Cash (Feat. Hood Rich)
This is probably my least favorite song on the entire album, i dont really like the "Trap-House" sounding type beat..i normally just skip this song
11. Mobb Shit (Feat. Ren Fetti & Klazzik)
Another one of my least favorite songs, but Ren Fetti's line about "hotter than a burning puss in the desert" made me chuckle..i typically skip this song as well..
12. Seek N Devour (Feat. AR Deville & Bird Money)
This song is another one of my favorites, AR Deville opens the track up with his verse and Bird Money does the chorus. Ampichino comes in on the 2nd verse and kills it as usual with lines like
"Fuck the police, the judge and fuck the devil too"
Bossi comes in on the 3rd verse and rides the beat perfectly.
*sidenote - Now my pops heard me listening to this song one day, and he informed me that the sample on this track is from some old O'Jays song..hopefully i find out the name of it...but the beat on this song will have you zoned the fuck out..
13. Next Day Air (Feat. D-Rek)
The track opens up with Bossi spitting too a beat that samples "Europe's - The Final Countdown"
Ampichino dropped some of the hardest lines on this track that flies over most niggas heads..this nigga said
"I leave you whining like Cece"
now for those of you niggas who don't know, Cece Winans is a gospel singer my grandma be listening too and shit
D-Rek's verse wasn't too memorable..so on to the next track..
14. Elegant Thugs (Feat. Freeze)
The guitars on this song is easily the dopest part about this beat..Amp & Bossi drop solid verses as usual, but what suprised me is that Freeze killed both both of them when he came in on the 3rd verse
"If Oprah came to my hood she'd have to buy a pass"
you wanna argue with bitches, she let you borrow cash/ you need to turn that game off and get up off yo ass
you wanna lay on the couch and eat up all the food/ you heard ya homeboy fucked, you wanna act a fool
you don't hustle or nothing, and you ain't finish school/ whoopin another nigga kid that dont listen to you
then wanna hate on Freeze cuz im spittin the truth/ im only fuckin wit factors, you just a corny dude
in the club with that nappy sweater, you ass backwards/ i dont want ya cd, you just a wack rapper
You niggas is sleep on that boy Freeze!! This is another one of the best tracks on the album
15. World So Cold (Ft. Dubb 20 & Joe Millionaire)
Once again, Ampichino's verse completely obliterates everything moving..he opens the track with
I smoke too much weed and I cant think/ i'm at the trap all nite so i cant sleep
Louie V sneaks and a gray mink/ its like i go to a funeral every other week
it's a war outside so ride with ya heat/ it's always someone close, thats ya worst enemy
im back in it, im back to spendin that bigger cheese/ you get winded, i spit vivid, i know the streets
i know the tweaks and the hustlas, i know the geeks/ i know the custys, trust me, these niggas police
we get to rep it hard, nigga you know my repertoire/ take her to the telly, make her charge it on her debit card
pump kicks, put the cash in the 2nd car/ the blow good, it's like they dealing with Escobar
he ran and got some finger waves and married his broad/ the only person I ever feared was my mom and God
Bossi comes in on the 2nd verse after Joe Millioniare does the hook, and Dubb 20 ends the song off perfectly with a dope ass verse..this is my favorite song on the entire album rite here
16. Feels So Good (Feat. Yukmouth)
On another Dame-Dash produced beat that samples an old Brandy song, Yukmouth opens the track up with a nice verse. Amp & Bossi knock the rest of the song out with ease, this is the "weed" song for the album..so enjoy all of you potheads
17. Cake Time (Feat. Mike Da Baller & Joe Millionaire)
Young Bossi raps first on this track, and he layed a decent verse saying shit like
illuminati want my mind, soul & my body/ secret society tryna keep they eye on me
Ampichino comes in on the 2nd verse and eats the track up, and Mike Da Baller (who also does the chorus) comes in on the 3rd verse to finish the song off. This song has a catchy hook and real mellow ass beat, so it's defintely a banger
18. World Is Mine (Feat. Gap)
Ampichino opens this song up with the lines " I breathe in trees and talk knowledge/ i got laced like a lease, said fuck college..Bossi comes in on the 2nd verse and spits a decent verse, and Gap comes in on the 3rd verse and manages to out-do Bossi's verse..this track took a while to grow on me, but after i gave it a few spins i really started too fuck wit it.. :yoda:
19. Cop Heavy Gang (Feat. Bird Money)
Young Bossi opens the track, and Ampichino spits a dope verse..but Bird Money stands out the most on this track with his chorus and especially his verse, which is a perfect way to end the album off..
OVERALL:
So too sum it all up, this album only has 2 songs that i don't like. The features aren't too overwhelming, and what i mean by that is..even though there's a nice amount of guest verses throughout the album, Ampichino & Young Bossi manage to not get overshadowed on they own tracks.
The production is what really stands out the most on here but Amp & Bossi's lyrics also cater perfectly to the soul-sampled beats.
so what's my rating for this album you ask after reading all that shit (or just scrolled down to just read this part)..
I'd give this album a 8.5, those 2 tracks back to back' that I didn't like really slowed the album down for me..but aside from that, I have no complaints at all with this album..
