The bombers were Chechen. Chechnya is a Muslim republic in Southern Russia, who have had some big wars with Russia until they officially became a Russian republic in the early 2000's. Our soldiers continue to fight insurgents there to this day, though there are less shoot outs than before. These guys are really crazy, tho, check out how some of the dads introduce their kids to the school:
